BJ Retirees: A visit with Don and Donn

Array I’m still using my online journal occassionally at diary-x, but it was time to try something new and so here I am.Since I am at work and don’t have a lot of time before I need to go back to focusing on worky types of things, I am going to forgo deep thought and post one of those lists that everyone is passing about. There is something so glorious about Maple trees, and I love where I live and the streets that are lined with them.2.) I love U2. Unbelievable.8.) I want to write a book.9.) I want to go back to Amsterdam and drink cider.10.) Way too many of my close friends are having twins, so it’s a good thing I’m single.11.) I love talking to people online, but I am very guarded sharing my online journals with most of the people I know in person. I ought go back to Shane & Shane.27.) I wonder if anyone else loves Shane & Ahh time for learning.40.) I want a puppy, but it is totally impractical in my life right now.41.) If I could I would buy a house and get some equity for crying out loud.42.) The other day I read this article about John Ryhs-Davies and I thought Wow, this guy rocks.43.) My back currently hurts very badly. 44.) Still not time to go home.45.) time for me to go pick up a bridesmaid dress that I am horribly afraid is not going to fit me now. 46.) It’s nice to be able to sit on the porch on summer evenings.47.) I’d like to have a nice home where I could have a lot of barbecues and do a lot of entertaining.48.) Sometimes it blows my mind how much other people love being business people.49.) I need a change of scenery once in awhile.

A jar lifter so you don’t have to touch the very, very hot water. And the sterilized jars and lids. Prepare more jars and lids than you think you need because you don’t want to have to go back and sterilize another jar when the fruit is all done and needs to stay hot. I needed all three of the full-sized ones but I didn’t use the little teeny one I put there for just a taste of what wouldn’t fit in a jar. The ingredients were very simple: 2 pounds of plums (about 6 cups sliced), a cup and a half of sugar, a quarter of a cup of fresh lemon juice, a chili de arbol pod for zip and vanilla seeds (I used that new vanilla paste) to balance out the sharpness. No need for pectin because plums have a lot of natural pectin.Everything (even the skins!) goes in a pot to boil for 5 minutes or so until the fruit pulp is very soft. Now, while the fruit is hot and the jars are as well (that’s important because if the jars have cooled the hot liquid may break them and you DON’T want to have to clean up that mess!), it goes into the jars. Isn’t it clever that I can see through the pot lid and the lids on the jars? The water needs to be at least an inch above the lids and it needs to be hot when the jars go in. I think the simplest way to do that is to remove whatever is holding the lid in place (in my case it’s two tiny little clips but you may have the threaded rings). Now lift the jar (an inch is enough — just in case) by just the lid. Will it hold the weight of the jar and the fruit? If you’re using the two-piece metal lids with the convex tops and IF you’re around when the seal is complete, you can hear the little ping of the vacuum sucking the lid down into a concave shape.

At Transpontine we have uncovered various South London monster connections, incuding most recently Shaun of the Dead. Thanks to Captain Normal, we can now reveal that Elsa Lanchester, who played both Mary Shelley and the Bride of Frankenstein in the 1935 film of the same name, was born Elizabeth Sullivan in 1902 at 48 Farley Road, Lewisham. She died in 1986.Dracula has been seen locally in various guises, with Gary Oldman (who played the Count in Bram Stoker’s Dracula) born in New Cross, and parts of Interview with a Vampire filmed at St Pauls Church in Deptford.

Sitting in the Right Field Mezzanine (where we got a great view of Joe D-G’s catch) with my buddy TC tonight brought up some interesting topics:If the Indians fall out of the race by the trading deadline, do you trade Millwood, Wickman, and Howry? If the Indians are right in the race by the trading deadline (which I think they will be ), what do they add? What does this team need? Everyone harps on Dolan’s unwillingness to spend money, but really what would you add to the mix here and who would go? The only pressing need that I see is a RH bat, possibly as an OF. It seems that the two-headed monster of Hernandez and Blake is not doing the job. What starter conveys the attitude of an ace the most? Or, what starter, when on the mound, gives you the most confidence? Consensus in the Mezzanine was Lee, Millwood, Sabathia, then Westbrook. Sabathia #3, you say? The reasoning is that despite his claims that he wants (and needs) to be this team’s ace, C.C. still seems to let things pile on when the inning gets tough. The other 3 don’t seem to have that problem. Is Bob Howry expendable to get a RH bat in the lineup? With Cabrera tearing it up in AAA and Howry’s contract up at the end of 2005 (he’s sure to get a multiyear deal with the way that he’s pitching), do you trade Howry with a minor leaguer to get a RH bat?Who are the core players on this team? Super Sizemore is obviously the best position player on this team right now (the Baldelli comparisons have started), but who else will be here in 3 years? With no obvious Manny, Thome, or Vizquel here, who’s going to stay for a few years, and who will pull a Paul Sorrento?Other things seen and heard at the Jake and afterwards:The Team Shop is selling #48 Pronk jerseys. If I see a #52 Crooked Cap or a #41 The Stick at the Team Shop, I’m asking for a commission. The lineup was introduced to The Crue’s Kick Start My Heart to get the crowd in the mood. Very well done video montage that got me ready for baseball, more so than Were talkin baseball…Indians Baseball…talkin Tribe!” Who still hits the play button on that one? Is someone in the Indians front office related to this singer? Lets bring back “Indians Fever, Be a Believer”.Why does the crowd start the wave with a Tribe runner on first and nobody out? Because Cleveland is not a baseball town. Im sorry, but its not.WTAMs postgame with Kevin Keane and Mark Schwab gives a voice to the intelligent Tribe Fan. They give a cautiously optimistic view on the team while not getting too high or too low, while also remaining subjective and sometimes critical. At a street vendors stand on Bolivar en route to the game, I saw the script “C” on a hat, which I feel should be incorporated into the uniforms. The other symbol that REALLY needs to be brought back is the silhouette of the full Chief Wahoo against the baseball (think the old Chief sign at Municipal Stadium). Why cant that be the depiction of the Chief, rather than just that big, smiling, red face?D-Backs in time for the weekend. In the words of Lou Brown, starting to come together, Pepper…starting to come together. Still shooting for 40-33 out of the homestand.link

His miraculous recovery from heart problems 8 years ago inspired many. Here’s the release that went out (I’ve inserted my own paragraph breaks):GOSPEL MUSIC’S FIRST FAMILY MOURNS THE LOSS OF SIBLING, RONALD WINANS(Los Angeles, CA - June 2005) — The multi-award winning musical dynasty, The Winans Family said good bye to Ronald Winans, the second eldest of the ten siblings, on the morning of June 17th Winans endured a massive heart-attack in 1997, but because of much prayer he experienced a miraculous recovery after the doctors had given him up for dead.In recent weeks, Ronald was admitted to the hospital for observation after the doctors realized he was retaining an abnormal amount of fluid in his body. It was with this release that the world would become familiar with the name, Winans, which is now synonymous with gospel. In January 2005 Winans released his final CD, Ron Winans Family & Friends V: A Celebration which was recorded live at Greater Grace in Detroit.Brother and sister dynamic duo, Bebe &
