Today, as I clocked out from work, I figured up my hours and I was just two minutes shy of 64 hours this week on my time card. Gee, she’s swell!- Work my normal six-hour shift at Arnie’s.- Get R2-D2 girl at work to finally quit making her annoying noises…although it’s because I pissed her off to the point that she’s not speaking to me altogether…but hey….I’ll tell you all about this later.- Made it through the entire first season of 24, two box sets of Mystery Science Theater, Star Wars and The Jerk on DVD while I worked.- Sorted out all my DVDs and CDs with my roommate in preparation for the big moving sale the first weekend in June.- Started searching for my next apartment…so far nothing that I like.

I have a lemon tree in my back garden ,planted by my Father Albert in 1936 to celebrate my birth.It has over the years been the most beautiful citrus one could ever want.I have nursed as one might a child and as it bears fruit every year after my caring ,fertilising trimming pruning spraying with detergent it continues to bear masses of fruit.The lemons are a little mishapen but still sweet to the taste ,at present I am giving it 2 monthly feeds around the outside branches of blood and bone watered well in and it seems to be responding and is not showing any signs of distress.I cannot bear to think of it dying and refuse to even contemplate its demise.I cannot say the same for a very large Irish Strawberry Tree my Mother Jessie planted some 20 years ago which today is showing signs of stress due to lack of rain although I feed it and water it well twice weekly.Iwill have to wait and see.

-ne Features of the week: Still battling to settle the initial 50 per cent of its preferred bid, Transnational Corporation (Transcorp), latest owner of the Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL), has some hurdles to surmount, reports REMMY NWEKE. NITEL Incorporated in 1974, NITEL, was a dominant fixed line operator in the country before the liberalisation of the telecom industry. In addition, NITEL has 7.33 per cent share in South Atlantic Telecommunication/ West African Submarine Cable Organisation (SAT3/WASC), 6.91 per cent share in Regional African Satellite Organisation (RASCOM), 0.21 per cent share in International Maritime Satellite Organisation (INMARSAT), 0.60 per cent share in International Telecommunication Satellite Organisation(INTELSAT) which was liquidated last year as a result of Intelsat privatization, and 0.07 per cent shares in ICO Global Communications Ltd (I-CO). State of Transcorp in NITEL At the proclamation of NITEL sale, BPE had indicated that Transcorp would pay 50 per cent of the total bid, which amounts to 00m, within seven working days, but as at Friday, July 13, Transcorp paid only 10 per cent, which is N9.6bn, while asking for renegotiation of the terms from 51 per cent share for Transcorp and 24 for its technical partners led by BT to 38 and 37 respectively. Negotiated deal option BPE led by Mrs. Irene Chigbue while explaining the reason behind the choice of negotiated deal with Transcorp, said it was precipitated by several factors including the antecedent of selling NITEL over the years on three occasions, which proved abortive. Initially, BPE said, NITEL loses value daily as liabilities increase and revenue declines and that in 2003, for instance, NITEL liabilities amounted to N73.8bn. “This is a great day for all NITEL stakeholders and a significant step for NITEL that will drive real choice for customers on a national basis.” Fate One issue that has been on the mind of stakeholders since July 3, has been the antecedents of Transcorp and its promoters. He accused BPE of collaborating with FG to dispose NITEL at what he called “a give away price.” Additionally, he alleged Transcorp was fronting for a top government official, with a specific interest in the changed rules of the game from 51 to 75 per cent shares meant for sale as was offered for bidding before now.

Know your priorities.The evening was filled with the beautiful voices of Michael Feinstein and Linda Eder…singing Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Gershwin tunes, with a smattering of Rogers and Hart.They both have an ease about them, music and words flowing effortlessly, with a down to earth way of humor and expression, that made those of us in the audience feel as though we were sitting in our best friend’s livingroom.My mom and I soaked up the music, the words, the voices, and humor.Linda Eder sang a song called If I Could, that just blew me away. You go back to Niamey, get Nigeria visa and come back.”“But I don’t want to go back to Niamey.”“You want to enter Chad?”“Yes.”“To enter Chad through Nigeria you need Nigerian visa. Once you have visa you can come back here and travel through to Chad.”“What about Nguigmi?” [Nguigmi is a town in eastern Niger, further east and north of Diffa which shows on the map it’s a border post to enter Chad – through the desert]“Yes. The border patrol took me back to the car, ordered the driver to give me the bulk of my money back, and took my stuff out of the car. The car continued on to Nigeria without me.The guard would escort me out of Nigeria, on his motorcycle, if I paid for his fuel. He drove me all the way back to the car park and helped me find the correct region for Nguigmi. [Different towns have different regions within the car park for the cars to wait to fill up] I thanked him for the ride and he went back to his own country.By noon a car was ready to go to Nguigmi. The ride was suppose to take only three hours. The three hour rule was said by the Doctors using 4WD in a private car. We waited on the side of the road for three hours as the driver took the spare, found a motorcycle to borrow, rode back into town, got a new tire and rode back.Two hours later, another flat tire. An hour-and-half later he’s back again with a new tire.Those two flat tires cost us a six hour delay. 16At the car park to N’Djamena the “big boss man” was trying to find a car for me. Array-ne Let me tell you something in the news lately.Mark Inglis is a 47-year old man who lost both his legs 24 years ago while climbing Mount Cook (New Zealand’s tallest mountain).On the way up Mount Cook, he and his partner faced some bad weather and were forced to take shelter in an ice-cave. it can be very tiring walking from the carpark to the tram station and I don’t want any fat fuks to slow the rest of us fat fuks down).No one?Nobody?Not at all?Ok how about just halfway up?No?Ok what if I get a car to drop us right at the train station instead of walking from the car park?Still no?Ok what if I get a car to drop us at the train station and get someone to push us one by one in wheel chairs from the porch of the tram station to the tram?Still no?You guys memang damn malas…

Array while I’ll always love the character as he appeared in those eight 1960’s issues by Sergio Aragones, Denny O’Neil and Nick Cardy, almost every revival attempt and guest appearance has been flat and bland. Methinks the latter.Nice Doug Mahnke cover for SEVEN SOLDIERS: FRANKENSTEIN #2, featuring my old buddy Spawny, all reimagined for these dark and gloomy times.Fans of old DC war comics are surely salivating over SGT. Can’t buy everything!Ladies and germs, I give you the final issue of the title voted most likely to defy all expectations of longevity, PLASTIC MAN #20. I flirted with this title a while ago, but after an admittedly clever issue or two, mostly involving Kyle Baker having some fun with DC’s superhero community, I got tired of the slapdash art and recycled Tom & Jerry plots, and bailed. I turned my back, no pun intended, on the smirky, sophomoric, FHM magazine-level spy hijinx of Danger Girl a long time ago, and I won’t be buying the comeback mini DANGER GIRL: BACK IN BLACK, but this cover image for issue #3 certainly appeals to my love of cheesecake pinup art. I haven’t had an opportunity to write about it yet, but I was kinda impressed with the preview which appeared in the latest issue of Fables, so I’ll be picking this up for a while, it appears.And that’s it for DC. This looks fun, with lotsa dead superheroes coming back as zombies or something, but it will be a game time decision in regards to whether I’ll buy.DAUGHTERS OF THE DRAGON #1 (of 6) gives us a long-overdue spotlight on two supporting characters that used to appear in Claremont and Byrne’s 70’s issues of Iron Fist, back before they became major annoyances. I don’t know what, if anything, has been done with them since then (I know they had some 70’s kung-fu magazine backups and appeared in Power Man/Iron Fist) but this triggers the nostalgic response in my head so I’ll be buying.NEXTWAVE #1 (of 12) looks like it could be fun, and I like the samples I’ve seen so far. Oh well, I’ll most likely pick it up regardless- I love me some Carrot.In the text of the solicit for MICHAEL GOLDEN?S MONSTERS PORTFOLIO they describe him as The elusive artist…, which evokes images of the Image guys dressed in pith helmets and jungle gear, stalking Golden with tranquilizer darts.Arthur Suydam has had his moments in the past, and he’s a fine artist overall, but his ORIGINAL ADVENTURES OF CHOLLY & FLYTRAP always struck me as poor man’s Vaughn Bode.

Array-ne Bugün alışverişe çıkarken, basket topu da almaya karar vermiştim.İçimdeki bene 80 kilo olduğunu söyleyince, ilk iş daha önce anlattığım gibi iştah ve doygunluk hissimi kontrol altına almıştı; Vazgeçmiş olmasam da sürekli bir bedensel etkinlik sağlamada yeterli olmayabilir.Birkaç aydır ben bunlarla oyalanırken, 80 kilo olduğuma karar verip bunu içimdeki bene tebliği ettiğimden bir iki gün sonra basket topu almıştım bile. Sağlıklı bir 80 kilo bedeninin etkinlik seviyesini de yakalayınca, geriye yapacak pek bir şey kalmayacak gibi.Bu arada alışverişte, Mehmet Öz’ün ‘Siz kullanma kılavuzunuz’ serisinin devamı gibi olan ‘Siz diyettesiniz’ kitabını da gördüm.
